They Told Me How to Fix Myself Without Ever Saying How They Didn't Say It First

Why it gets baffling at first,
if you've never had it before,
is how plain it becomes
that everyone else
has always known how to fix you...
but somehow never knew
how to say it kindly.

They didn't ask.
They didn't build.
They didn't check to see
if your nervous system
was even in the room.

They just delivered
some truth-pill grenade
and called it wisdom.

No empathy.
No path.
No resonance.
Just "you should've known."

And when you rise?
When you transmute hell
into a language even they can understand?

That's when they get revisionist.

"Oh yeah… I always knew you could. I just didn't know how to say it then…"

Because they didn't.
They didn't say it.
Not then.
Not gently.
Not with love.

And now, when you return
with grace
and presence
and actual love,
the kind that says, "I see you"...

They flip.

Not because you hurt them.
But because your clarity
dislodges the projection they weren't ready to meet.

And suddenly,
you become the face
of their mother.
Or their abuser.
Or the lover who left.
Or the friend who said too much.

Because now…
you're the one who stayed.
And that's the real threat.

Because all the people they said hurt them?

Were just versions of themselves
showing up
fragmented and loud
just like they are
right now.
